Chapter 12 - THE MELODY OF A NEW BEGINNING

The spring air was warm and smelled of white roses.

The garden of the Moretti estate had been transformed.

Hundreds of fairy lights hung from the ancient oak trees. The Chicago elite weren't invited today. Only family. Only the people who mattered.

I stood in the doorway of the patio, wearing a simple, elegant white silk dress.

My father stood beside me in a sharp black tuxedo. He didn't need a cane anymore. He stood tall and proud.

“You look exactly like your mother,” he whispered, wiping a tear from his eye.

“Thank you, Dad,” I smiled, hooking my arm through his.

The soft, beautiful melody of a piano drifted through the garden.

Arthur Greene was playing the piano under a gazebo covered in vines.

He wasn't playing a wedding march.

He was playing Lucia’s Waltz.

We walked down the stone path.

At the end of the aisle stood Luca.

He looked more handsome than I had ever seen him. The heavy burdens of his past were completely gone from his eyes. He looked like a man who had finally found his home.

Standing right beside him, wearing a tiny matching tuxedo, was Leo.

The little boy held a velvet pillow with two rings resting on it. He beamed at me with missing front teeth.

As my father walked me down the aisle, I felt a profound sense of peace.

We had fought through lies, poison, and the darkest secrets of the past.

But we had won.

My father placed my hand in Luca’s.

“Take care of her, son,” my father said clearly.

“With my life,” Luca promised.

The priest spoke beautiful words about endurance, truth, and chosen family.

When it was time, Leo proudly stepped forward and held up the rings.

Luca took the antique diamond ring—the one his father had hidden for him—and slipped it onto my finger.

“You brought the music back into my life, Emma,” Luca whispered, his voice thick with emotion. “I will spend the rest of my days making sure you never stop smiling. I love you.”

I slipped a gold band onto his finger.

“I love you too,” I said. “Forever.”

“You may kiss the bride,” the priest smiled.

Luca pulled me in and kissed me deeply.

The small crowd cheered. Leo clapped the loudest, jumping up and down.

Arthur Greene hit a triumphant final chord on the piano.

As Luca and I walked back down the aisle, holding hands with Leo between us, I knew that the dark legacy of the past was finally over.

This was our melody now.

And it was going to be a beautiful life.
