Chapter 11 - THE BRACELET FROM THE SAFE

Luca held the small velvet box in his hands.
“There’s one last thing,” he said softly.
He opened the box.
Inside rested a delicate gold charm bracelet.
Attached to the links were tiny, intricate charms: a rose, a book, a tiny house, and a single, perfect angel wing.
“My mother wore this every day of her life,” Luca explained. “After she died, my father locked it in his safe. He said it was waiting for the woman who would finally bring the light back into this family.”
He looked at me, his eyes full of profound gratitude.
“I thought it was supposed to be for my wife. But I was wrong.”
He took the bracelet out of the box and reached for my wrist.
“It was waiting for you, Emma.”
He fastened the clasp. The gold felt warm against my skin, clicking softly against the diamond necklace.
Tears blurred my vision again.
“Thank you, Luca,” I whispered.
He pulled me into a tight hug.
“Thank you,” he replied. “For staying. For being brave.”
We walked out of the study and back toward the grand foyer.
The front doors were open, letting the fresh morning breeze sweep through the house.
Sarah was standing by the door, watching Mia run across the sprawling front lawn, chasing a butterfly.
My mother looked at me, her eyes dropping to the bracelet on my wrist.
She smiled, a deep, knowing smile.
“It looks beautiful on you,” Sarah said.
“It feels right,” I replied.
I watched my niece—my new niece—laughing in the sun.
I watched my brother lean against the doorframe, a look of complete peace settling over his features.
The Moretti name had always been associated with fear, power, and secrets.
But as I stood there, surrounded by the people who loved me, I knew the legacy was changing.
We weren't a mafia family anymore.
May you like
We were just a family.
And for the first time in twenty-nine years, I was finally home.
